EUGENE L. OCHOCKI SCHOLARSHIPS

One component of the New Hampshire Federal Executive Association's (NHFEA) mission is its presentation of annual scholarships.  Each year, NHFEA presents Eugene L. Ochocki college scholarships to federal employees and/or their spouses and family members.  At least one scholarship will be awarded to a federal employee.

Mr. Ochocki was a former Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Manchester, NH, and a former President of the NHFEA. It was his vision that lead to the NHFEA expanding beyond the awards to include scholarships being presented during Public Service Recognition Week. The scholarships are named in his honor.

The 2009 scholarships were awarded during the annual Awards luncheon on May 7, 2009. Congratulations to all the nominees. Everyone in the NHFEA wishes you well with your future endeavors!

The 2009 scholarship winners are:

Criteria:   Winners must be federal employees who have worked at least three (3) years for the federal government and presently work in the state of New Hampshire or at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard; or, are spouses of such federal employees; or, are dependent children of such federal employees.  In addition, scholarship applicants will be judged on academic work completed; leadership in school; on the job, or in the community, and an essay.  Applicants must submit the following in order to be considered:

1.  Letter of acceptance or letter from registrar showing current enrollment;

2.  A copy of the most current high school or college transcript (a copy is aceptable);

3.  On a separate sheet, list the leadership experiences gained from school, on the job, and/or in the community; and,

4.  Write an essay of 200 words or less on the subject, "How my academic major can be applied to jobs in the public sector."

Please note the essay will be judged on presentation and content.
